One On One With Model and Influencer SHAHA M.

SHAHA M. INTERVIEW

FMNYC - Tell us about a modeling challenge that you experienced. SHAHA M. - Modeling as a Muslim woman wearing a headscarf has always made it very difficult for me, especially my location being Switzerland. I have had articles published about this topic in a newspaper here and explained in detail that someone with a headscarf is usually not accepted by society.

FMNYC - What is your greatest weakness, as a model? What are you doing to improve on it? SHAHA M. - My self awareness - I do tend to be a perfectionist and hence always find something to not like. I always strive to get the best out of me and this holds me certain times more back then it let's me move forward to reach my goals. I try not to be too harsh on myself and compliment myself more often to reach a certain level of confidence.

FMNYC - What is your best achievement in your career? SHAHA M. - Growing on Social Media the way I did and getting acknowledged by different events and newspapers in Switzerland is something I am very proud of. I worked with different labels and brands, where I was the first Modest Model to be represented. Countless opportunities have been presented to me and are still being presented, which confirms that I am going the right way. FMNYC - Many people think modeling is just about style and makeup. What’s your take on this?

SHAHA M. - It is a lot about style and makeup but being confident enough in your own way, takes the main part of modeling in my eyes. Someone not being confident enough can't represent the aura needed for the shooting, which I mentioned above. FMNYC - Who inspire you on the industry and why?

SHAHA M. -Huda Kattan - Being an Arab like myself, she made it in the Beauty industry. She represents all Middle Eastern women striving to become their own boss and ruling their own business. It inspires me, how from a blogger she has risen to be one of the most acclaimed beauty brand worldwide and keeps pushing not only herself but many others to do the same. FMNYC - How do you balance your time as a Influencer and modeling? SHAHA M. - Influencing and modeling in my eyes go hand in hand. When I receive a request to represent a certain fashion brand, I do look at it as an opportunity to promote the brand but at the same time arrange a shooting and model for the brand in order to widen my portfolio.

FMNYC - Which of your projects are you most proud of? Why?

SHAHA M. - I am proud of all my projects I had in the past as they helped me in my personal growth but as well let me increase my audience and reach.

FMNYC - What is your personal style?

SHAHA M. - I would describe myself as elegant and chic, but I go for casual sometimes too. I like to combine colors fitting the seasons in Switzerland.

FMNYC - Describe your perfect day off when you are not working at all.

SHAHA M. - I love to spend time with my family but also like to have some time for myself too, in which I like putting on make up, take some good spontaneous shots and create plenty of TikTok videos.
